Hello, I just came up with a good idea for my homeade air filter. I burned out the original and cut air filter foam to fit in the housing as decribed in other posts on this forum. However, I didn't want to use glue or epoxy to hold it in, because It's eaiser to clean it if you can remove it. I tried riding it for a while with the foam just pressed into the housing, but over time, it kept coming half way out. Well, today I found some really thin wire, cut it into four pieces, and put one on each corner by inserting it through the grate on the housing, and bringing it through the foam filter on the other side, and then twisting it very tight. I then cut off the excess wire, and you can hardly tell its there, but it holds it in place perfectly.
